Reports of vulnerability related to WPS are currently appearing in the media. The models of the FRITZ!Box family are not affected by this, as they do not feature continuously activated WPS.
In order to connect the FRITZ!Box to another WLAN device, the user has to temporarily activate WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) – this can be done using either the WPS button or the FRITZ!Box user interface. A secure connection can then be established within two minutes.
WPS disabled automatically after connecting
Once the connection has been successfully established or the two minutes have elapsed, the WPS function on the FRITZ!Box is once again automatically deactivated. If multiple devices simultaneously attempt to establish a WPS connection, WPS is immediately deactivated, preventing any external access to the FRITZ!Box.
WPS makes it simple to establish a secure WLAN connection
WPS, the standard developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance, serves to simplify the setup of an encrypted wireless home network. This method makes it much easier to add new devices to an existing WLAN, relieving the user of the often burdensome task of entering a complex encryption code.

Until pretty recently Internet Telephony didn’t leave small businesses with up to 20 people with much choice. On one end you could find ASTERISK whereas on the other end you were left with Skype.
Now there is a serious third option for small business use which it much easier to set up than Asterisk but offers you much more functions and flexibility than Skype. As with Asterisk you can choose your VoIP Service provider, incoming phone numbers and digital lines from hundreds of the new Internet Telco’s from anywhere worldwide. On the other hand you have an intuitive user Interface that makes the setup very easy and lets you set up a whole wireless office network right out of FRITZ!Box within 2-3 hours.
Functions like Voicemail, FAX2email, VPN, integrated Print server just to name a few features really make FRTIZ!Box become the centerpiece of your office. The integrated superfast Wi-Fi N, Gigabit LAN Router and ADSL/ VDSL Modem unit make your modem obsolete and enhance your network speed while clearing the cable spaghetti from your office. With more than 10 Million units sold at a fraction of the cost of an Asterisk system the red little box also became known as the “Swiss Army Knife” of communications and network Infrastructure.

Depending on the VoIP codec deployed in a conversation the bandwidth varies. Nowadays (2011) modern systems normally use either G.711 (IDSN quality) or the newer G.722 (HD Telephony) codec. Both codecs use 64 Kibitz for incoming and outgoing conversations. Anyone how is interested in learning more about bandwidth consumption should take a look at the free bandwidth calculator here.

This week I write a shot tutorial on how to use FRITZ!Box behind a cable Modem.

You have to connect your FRITZ!Box via Network cable on the “LAN1” Port of FRITZ!Box and connect your computer to FRITZ!Box either via LAN or Wi-Fi.

To see all the following settings please activate the Expert Mode in the System folder first. Now copy the settings in the screenshot.

Fritz-cable-modem-settings

For upstream / downstream please insert the Internet speed data for your line. Save the settings.

Last but not least you will need to restart your cable modem & FRITZ!Box by unplugging them from the power mains for a moment.

Now everything should be working!

ne AVM just released a new firmware for the FRITZ!Box 7270. Certainly one of the most important highlights is the possibility to block and filter websites for each Computer and smartphone connected to the Internet via FRITZ!Box. Now it’s possible to block time consuming social networking websites for each computer separately. If someone in the office that became Facebook addict you can guide these people back to the tasks they were originally employed for.

Another interesting feature is the enhanced FRITZ!App that allows you to connect your Smartphone to FRITZ!Box. The connection process got streamlined, offers more functions and is easier than ever before.

After installing the new firmware you can also update your FRITZ!Fon firmware. If you switch the language of your FRITZ!Box to French, German, Italian or Spanish your FRITZ!Fon will adapt the FRITZ!Box menu language accordingly now.

Last but not least: If you upgrade to a new FRITZ!Box in the future you can transfer your settings simpler than ever before.

VDSL stands for (Very-High-Bitrate Digital Subscriber Line). The VDSL protocol was standardized by the ITU in February 2006 and is now being deployed in more than 30 countries.

In Thailand True telecom offers VDSL with 50Mbit downstream and 20Mbit upstream for currently 3599 Baht/month.

FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7390 is one of the very few VDSL Modems available on the Thai Market. With integrated high-speed Wi-Fi N and 4 ports Gigabit LAN the FRITZ!Box is certainly the most outstanding VDSL Product in the market.
