Most people associate fixed-line telephone numbers with a real “brick and mortar” business and its location, while mobile phone numbers are considered “personal” and related to an individual only. This is why by using a fixed-line phone number on your website and business card, you will leave a more professional impression and gain more trust from customers.
Unbundled analog fixed phone numbers
TOT is the only analog fixed-line provider in Thailand offering unbundled landline phone numbers for 100 THB/month without requiring an internet connection. Local calls are 3 THB per call, calls to mobile phones or to other provinces are between 3 and 9 THB per minute. Caller ID is available as an add-on in some areas for 30 THB per month.
As of 2018, Thailand had 3.05 million fixed-line subscribers, breaking down to 70% home and small business users, and 30% office users.
Note: Phone lines are installed via a physical telephone cable. As there is no number portability for fixed-line phone numbers, you will lose your number when moving to a new location.
Recommended for: Small businesses that do not require an internet connection, alarm systems, and credit card payment terminals.
Bundled fixed phone VoIP lines
With recent rapid growth of fiber-optic internet network infrastructure, today many ISPs are offering fixed-line telephony via their fiber-optic network. This means increasing competition on the once monopolized market.
3BB, AIS, True, TOT and other ISPs now are offering fixed-line telephony services bundled with internet packages. Fixed-line phone service is available as an add-on, delivered as a VoIP service through the same fiber optic line as your internet – no additional cables need to be installed. In the comparison table below, you will find details about providers.
Note: If you cancel the internet service with your ISP, you will also lose your fixed line phone number. Currently, you cannot port any fixed line phone number to another ISP.
Recommended for: Small businesses that are fixed to a certain location, such as bars, pubs, restaurants, guesthouses, massage places requiring just a basic landline phone to make and receive calls.
